My Other Life
Just a quick post. As many of you know, I’m leaving the computer security/UNIX/development world for medical school. But since that will surely still be a big part of my life and I wanted to document some things I’ve been working on, I setup a new, separate blog to post random technical bits. If you’re so inclined, please check it out!

Chris,
As little as I understand about information technology, I understand enough to know that the work you have done and the skill with which you have documented it are of the highest order and I congratulate you!
Medical science and computer science have more in common than one might think, as is indicated in this catalogue description of one of the courses I’m planning to audit here at Princeton this fall:
“PSYCH 214 Human Identity in the Age of Neuroscience and Information Technology
Description/Objectives: A central challenge for modern society is to construct individual and group identity in the face of technologies that come ever closer to understanding the mechanisms of thought and feeling. We live in a time when cognitive neuroscience is poised to trace the executive functions of the mind to the workings of the brain and computer science is coming closer to replicating those functions. This course offers a multi-disciplinary introduction to the scientific and social issues that underlie the potential cultural impact of advances in self-understanding. Twenty different faculty from a wide range of departments will provide lectures.”
You begin medical school extraordinarily well equipped to explore the parallels and discern the underlying principles. Wow!
Welcome to the Medical World. I have been in Medical School for Acupuncture for the past two years and started the internship this year. I’ll be out of Acupuncture School in 1 year, Joining my brother to fulfill family business…
I believe that Medical world is more fastinated than Technology World. Especially when you can help a patient and family thanks you for it.
I know you can do it.
