Dan - I do remember you, yes. Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully some time we can play another game of pool :)

Annya - Uh... Well, I guess that's not... TOO creepy. Hey, I'm a grown man and my favorite thing to do is kick my leg like a young boy on a bench that's too high off the ground for his feet to touch. Simple pleasures. :)

And yes, that's a preview of the next post I'm writing - more movement.

So I don't know if you remember me, but I'm your cousin once-removed (writing this feels so strange). We played pool once. The blog is really interesting, and congratulations on toe movement!

Oh, don't you worry - I'm going to get into a lot more detail as to why moving the big toe is a significant event. Plenty of details. But my plan is to share this in just the same sort of understated shock that I felt when it first moved.

There will be plenty more to come in the following weeks.

p.s. How's this for woo-woo, or however you want to take it:

For some reason tonight I glanced again at your list of inspirational stories, and saw Pat Rummerfield, and this time I clicked. C3-4-5-6 all broken, prognosis paralyzed for life. And what do I stumble upon? "one day ... I was laying there concentrating, thinking about racing cars and playing basketball ... and I felt my left big toe move."

As a friend said to me last fall, upon receipt of a great CT scan report: "Methinks this am majorly good news." I'm celebratin' here.

Gonna do a triathlon, as Rummerfield eventually did?

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

Now, for all the nice people out there, why don't you explain why that's a big deal?

I mean, yeah, signs of not being paralyzed are obviously good; but is there anything more specific to tell? (I heard stuff from your father that's not in the blog.)

p.s. Your post title came dangerously close to winning an Oscar.

Irreverently,
your cousin
