Yep, it does allow hyperlinks. :)

And I do have to admit, wheelchair mobility is probably the most fun one can have in one of these chairs. Nowadays, I'm on to doing wheelies off curbs, popping up onto 4-6" curbs (good for times when there is no curb cut), doing wheelies down ramps (makes you far less forward-heavy when going down a ramp, and makes getting off the ramp much easier), and a number of other circumstances. Plus it's fun.

(Hm, I don't know if WordPress comments allow hyperlinks - we shall see.)

I spent several months using a wheelchair at times, while my fracture was healing. (My game is kidney cancer, and it ate away the femur from inside, in addition to bone mets in skull, ilium and ulna.) But I was never constrained to the chair, and never had to learn wheelies.

On the other hand, I spent fairly little time out of work, so I never got the luxury of wheelchair mobility training, heh. :)

Chris, I thought of you as one of my heroes before your accident. I couldn't have imagined the meaning it would come to have today. I think about your strength and remind myself not to take anything for granted. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Dear Chris,

I'm glad you've decided to share your journey with us. I'm also glad for my recent ministry to the terminally ill, which has taught me to see through the horrors of sickness and death to the opportunity for spiritual healing that is always to be found within. Had I not had this experience I might not have been able to read what you have written here!

And I'm glad for the brave men and women who have shared this ministry with me, and who in doing so have been my teachers. Their courage, dignity and determination to make something good of every day have been an inspiration and a gift to me. I can tell from what you have written that your effort will be no less inspiring than theirs.

A year ago your cousin Dave deBronkart was sharing a confrontation of metastasized cancer on the Caring Bridge website. It was an epic struggle against long odds. An online community of thousands was formed. By July the cancer was at bay. I believe that the online community of encouragement, love and prayer was the difference between life and death.

There is something profoundly healing about shamelessly sharing our vulnerabilities, for both those of us who comment and those of us who read. I am glad that you are making this healing gift to us and I thank you for it.

Love always,
